It’s Not Easy Being Green, But Cunningham Engineering Can Help!

CCUH LogoOver the years, Cunningham Engineering has striven to inform agencies, design professionals and developers alike, on the value of Sustainable Design and Low Impact Development (LID).  Through the ongoing efforts of our landscape architects and civil engineers, we help our clients and colleagues to understand the significance landscape designs can have as we attempt to reduce our environmental footprint.

Recently, the California Center for Urban Horticulture (CCUH) asked Cunningham Engineering’s Senior Landscape Architect/Land Planner, Cheryl Sullivan (RCLA, LEED AP) to discuss Sustainable Home Landscape Design at the "2008 Global Climate Change and Your Backyard Conference."

The Global Climate Change and Your Backyard Conference took place May 30th through May 31st, at the UC Davis ARC Ballroom.  The conference addressed scientific research and management strategies for mitigating global climate change in California’s urban landscape.  Designed for homeowners, gardeners and industry professionals, speakers covered topics such as:

  • Water use and runoff pollution
  • Plant selection and landscape design
  • Plant usage for energy conservation
  • Carbon sequestration and carbon credits
  • The impact of tree planting on reduction of greenhouse gasses
