What's New

More CALGreen Mandates as of July 1, 2012!

Are you ready?

CALGreen - the 2010 California Green Building Standards Code originally effective as of January 1, 2011 - is expanding its breadth of regulations in a new supplement. As is, the Code already mandates that all new buildings in California use environmentally advanced building practices to decrease waste, reduce water consumption, improve indoor environmental quality and conserve resources.  Prior to the July 1, 2012 mandates, non-residential additions and alterations were excluded from the regulations. But that may not be the case anymore.

The new mandates clarify some the confusing aspects of the original Code, and also narrow the acceptable BMPs. For example, under current code, separate water submeters were required for high water use. They will now be required for subsystems as well.
