Seasonal Maintenance Tips to Keep Your Landscape Healthy!

WINTER: Prepare Before the Burst of Bloom

  • Prune to re-shape trees and shrubs
  • Protect sensitive plants from frosts
  • Turn-off irrigation - monitor soil moisture
  • Remove dead annuals
  • Prune roses
  • Cut back ornamental grasses
  • Upgrade irrigation system to be more water efficient (i.e. smart controller, drip conversion, etc.)

SPRING: Enjoy Beautiful, Full Color
  • Apply slow release fertilizer
  • Turn irrigation back on - don't overwater
  • Inspect irrigation system for leaks, overspray, run-off
  • Dethatch lawn
  • Apply pre-emergents
  • Plant spring annuals

SUMMER: Monitor & Adjust Irrigation
  • Don't overwater
  • Make irrigation checks and adjustments as needed
  • Remove/treat weeds 
  • Cut grass taller to retain soil moisture
  • Deep water trees

FALL: Prepare for a Healthy Spring Landscape
  • Remove leaves 
  • Plant/add new trees and shrubs
  • Plant spring bulbs
  • Aerate and fertilize lawn
  • Clean-up flower beds/cut back perennials
  • Mulch
  • Check drainage structures
