In your role as Project Manager, you’ll help clients and Cunningham Staff succeed by providing superior client service with the management of various projects. In a collaborative and supportive work environment, you’ll be managing prominent, impactful, and challenging land development projects.    

Your responsibilities as a Cunningham Project Manager will include:

  • Prepare and direct preliminary and final designs, reports, specifications, maps, cost estimates, and other work products, working independently and as part of a design team.

  • Communicate and coordinate with clients, public agencies, consultants, etc. as needed to manage projects. Keep accurate records of all relevant information via the use of meeting minutes, communication logs, etc.

  • Process application forms and packages, coordinate public agency approvals, and represent clients at public meetings.

  • Use engineering software in support of design efforts. Assist with company decision-making process with regard to periodic hardware and software updating.

  • Keep an accurate log of hours, in the form of timesheets for billing. Review and approve timesheets of other staff.

  • Maintain contact with a professional engineering organization (ASCE, or similar).

  • Provide construction coordination and management as needed.

  • Coordinate workload and assist the principal with priority setting of engineers and designers. Lead in the priority-setting process of drafting technicians during weekly staff meetings.

  • Implement quality assurance procedures, including project kick-off meetings and work task planning.

  • Perform quality control reviews (plan checks) of own work and of others. Review work for potential liability exposure.

  • Monitor time and budget status during the course of projects, and take action to steer the project towards target goals.

  • Prepare Scopes of Work and Fee Proposals and partake in contract negotiations. Identify out-of-scope work and prepare and negotiate contract amendments.

  • Supervise staff members when working on my projects and assist the Principal with performance evaluations of certain staff members.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of the company’s strategic business plan.

  • Prepare monthly invoices and work with the Office Manager in collections.

  • Provide leadership and direction as part of the quality improvement team, in efforts to mitigate company quality deficiencies.

  • Assist with Company marketing efforts, by maintaining existing Clients and obtaining new Clients. Prepare SOQ’s and respond to RFP’s.

  • Assist with recruitment and hiring of new technical staff (discover potential employees via discussions with peers and colleagues, review and prioritize resumes, interview prospective employees, and make recommendations to the Principal.

  • Provide mentorship to junior design staff and assist with design criteria development on various projects.

  • Work overtime when requested and as needed to complete project deadlines.


The successful candidate will possess:

  • Professional Engineer Registration in California or immediate eligibility.

  • A minimum of 3 years of general civil engineering experience with increasing responsibility.

  • A working knowledge of AutoCAD / Civil 3D.

  • Strong design skills and experience with site development, subdivisions, municipal and/or private projects.

  • Experience with infrastructure studies and design a plus.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment when dealing with complex, often conflicting project-design requirements.

  • Ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines in a challenging and dynamic environment.

  • Ability to be positive, and motivated and to communicate effectively with team members, clients, and public agencies.


Pay:

This position's typical base salary range is $85,000-$200,000 depending upon skills, experience, and education.
